Inserting a View Border

View Borders are used to determine the extents of your floorplan so that when you export your floorplan to a PDF, it fits the page correctly.

View Borders work best when linked to your Views.

Inserting a View Border

1

Click the 'View Border' button which is located on the INSERT ribbon.

2

A box will now pop up (see picture below) allowing you to give the border a name.

Tick Custom Size if you want to draw a border that can be a rectangle with any proportions, such as long and thin. If Custom Size is not ticked then the border will size proportionally based on an A sized piece of paper.

Now click OK.

3

Now move the cursor to where you want the first corner of your View Border, then click with your mouse to start drawing the border. You can start at any corner, the rectangle will stretch as you move your mouse (see picture 1 below).

While drawing your border it will lock into a Portrait orientation, if you want to change it to Landscape press 'O' on your keyboard. If you are drawing a custom sized border the orientation is irrelevant.

To finish the border click with your mouse where you want the rectangle to end. The View Border will be shown in Red with the name you gave it shown in the bottom left corner, see picture 2 below.

TIP: After drawing a None custom border, you can change its orientation using the Properties Explorer.

TIP: Don't worry if you draw the border in the wrong place or at the wrong size, you can adjust it afterwards using the Red and Blue nodes.

TIP: Your completed border will be put on layer View Borders automatically but, it can changed to another layer. Putting your borders on different layers helps keep your plan looking tidy so you don't see lots of overlapping borders on the screen at the same time.
