Drawing a Wipeout

Wipeouts can be used for blanking off an area of your floorplan such as part of a hall that will not be used.

Draw a Wipeout

View the quick tutorial video (no sound) and/or follow the instructions below.

1

Click the 'Draw Wipeout' button (top part of button) which is located on the DRAW ribbon.

2

A box will now pop up (see picture below).

Type in the name of the Wipeout in the 'Name' box. You can leave it just as the default name if you wish.

Use the Opacity slider to adjust the opacity of the Wipeout. At 100% it will blank out everything underneath it completely; with reduced levels it will slightly show things underneath it.

Select the colour of the Wipeout. White is the usual colour to use but you can use any colour you like. If you want a grab a colour from your screen, move your mouse over the colour you want then press CTRL+1 and that colour will be put in the colour box.

Click ok and go to step 3.

3

After clicking ok on the above dialog the following message may appear, if it does then it is recommended that you click Yes to make sure your wipeouts work correctly on any PDFs you export.

4

Before drawing your Wipeout you may wish to use a couple of Construction Lines to help you define the area you want to cover, I have done this in the example below (lines shown in Blue). Click here for help with drawing 'Construction Lines'

Now draw the Wipeout over the area you want covered like in the example below, it will show as a Grey area with the word 'Wipeout' inside it. Once completed you can delete your construction lines.

TIP: If you need to edit the Wipeout afterwards, you can double click on it to change the properties, or to change the shape, click on it and then manipulate the nodes attached to it, just like you would a stand.

TIP: You can draw multiple Wipeouts and put them on different layers so that you can turn different ones on and off, however you must make sure the original 'Wipeouts' layer is always switched on.

To preview the Wipeout click on the 'Preview Wipeouts On/Off' which is located at the top right of your screen as shown below, this is how it will look when you export your PDF.

TIP: You can put entities on top of this wipeout such as a logo, text etc. If when placing entities on top of the wipeout they are covered by the wipeout, you will need to change the display order of that entity using the Bring to Front/Move to Back function.

You may want to finish this blank part of the hall off with some walling as shown below.
