Snap Settings

Snaps are used to help you click on entities accurately.

Snaps appear when you are drawing or moving something and you hover your mouse near a Snap point.

There are different types of Snaps, some of which are shown in the image below.

To access the Snap settings click on the 'Grid & Snaps' button which is located on the SETTINGS Ribbon.

NOTE: We will only be looking at the Snap settings on this page, for Grid settings click here.

The following Grid & Snap Settings dialog will appear.

Snaps:

End Point - This Snap appears when you hover near the end of a Line, Polyline or corner of a rectangle, including Stands.

Mid Point - This Snap appears when you hover near the middle of a line or near the middle of a Stand edge.

Centre - This Snap appears when you hover near the centre of a Circle (including Circular Stands) or centres of Arcs.

Point / Origin - This Snap appears when you hover near a Point or the drawing Origin.

Quadrant- This Snap appears when you hover near the quadrant (top, bottom, left or right edge) of a Circle (including Circular Stands) or Arcs.

Intersection - This Snap appears when you hover over a junction where lines cross each other.

Insertion - This Snap appears when you hover over the insertion point of Text or Symbols.

Perpendicular - This Snap appears when you hover over a line that is at a right angle from the first point you selected.

Tangent - This Snap appears when you hover near a tangent point of a Circle (including Circular Stands) or Arc.

Nearest - This Snap appears when you hover near any entity. This snap can also be turned on / off using the button on the System Toolbar which is highlighted below:

Symbols - With this enabled, the above snaps will work as expected. When disabled, the only Snap that works when you hover over a symbol is the Insertion Snap.

Referenced Drawings (Imported DWGs) - With this enabled, the above snaps will work as expected. When disabled, the only Snap that works when you hover over a Referenced Drawing is the Insertion Snap.

NOTE: Disabling certain Snaps that are not needed can speed up your drawing, particularly the Symbols and Referenced Drawings Snaps.

Options:

Intellisnap - This is the spacing shown between each line/dot horizontally.

Angle Lock - This is the spacing shown between each line/dot vertically.
