Find Entities on Layers

Sometimes you may need to Delete or Purge Layers but are unable to because of a hidden entity on that Layer.

These instructions will help you find entities on a particular Layer.

1

First of all, make sure the Layer you want to check for entities, is the Current Layer, Visible and Unlocked. You can do that in the Layer Manager.

Once the Layer in question has been made current, draw a Circle on your screen somewhere and then select it.

With the Circle selected, go to MODIFY > Select All (bottom half of button) > Select Layer as shown below.

2

All of the entities on this Layer will now be selected and will be highlighted on-screen as shown below.

If the selected entities do not show the Nodes, it could be that a LOT of entities have been selected, but they will show as a Dashed line without the Nodes.

You can now decide if you want to delete all of these entities or move them onto another Layer.

If this function did not help you find the hidden entity, go to Step 3.

3

If the above instructions did not help you find any hidden entities that you need to find on a particular Layer, you can go into the Layer Manager and check what entities are on that Layer.

To do this, load the Layer Manager, select the Layer in question and click Edit Selected as shown below.

Another dialog will now appear (see 2nd image below) and you will see a little Blue 'i' icon next to the layer name. If you hover your mouse over that icon, a little info box will appear telling you what and how many entities are on that layer.

In the example below (2nd Image) you will see that there are 3 drawing entities plus 1 Block (symbol) that are on that layer. Remember that the entities within a Symbol can be on a different Layer which is why they can be hard to find, so this function works well to help you find those.
